{"id":1753,"date":"2012-10-08T20:26:10","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T20:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/metta.secure.retreat.guru\/?p=1753"},"modified":"2012-10-08T20:26:10","modified_gmt":"2012-10-08T20:26:10","slug":"welcome-to-mettas-newest-board-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insightdialogue.secure.retreat.guru\/2012\/10\/08\/welcome-to-mettas-newest-board-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Metta&#8217;s Newest Board Members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Metta\u2019s organization development grows, we are fortunate to also see our board of directors (BOD) growing in size and strength.\u00a0\u00a0With pleasure, we announce our newest members to the BOD and invite you to welcome them with open hearts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allen Smith\u00a0<\/strong>was elected to Metta\u2019s Board of Directors in June 2012 to serve as Treasurer.\u00a0\u00a0Although Allen is infamously known as Gregory\u2019s neighbor on Orcas Island, he previously lived in Southern California for 25 years, where he was co-founder and CEO of ISX Corporation, a developer of advanced computer software systems for the U.S. Department of Defense and other customers.\u00a0 Allen is a graduate of Princeton University with a PhD in Anthropology.\u00a0 He has served on several non-profit boards in California and Washington State.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to his very remarkable organizational fortitude, Allen holds a rich spiritual life and has more than 40 years of meditation practice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lucy Leu\u00a0<\/strong>was elected to Metta\u2019s Board to Directors in July 2012, and invited to serve as Vice-Chair.\u00a0\u00a0Lucy began practicing Vipassana Insight Meditation in 1986.\u00a0 She studied Nonviolent Communication with Marshall Rosenberg and founded Nonviolent Communication and mindfulness training programs in Washington state prisons.\u00a0 In 2008 she attended her first Insight Dialogue retreat and shortly thereafter, began volunteering in support of Insight Dialogue events.\u00a0 Lucy holds a strong interest in strengthening Metta\u2019s support to local communities of practice and is largely responsible for the development of the annual Casacadia Insight Dialogue Retreat, bringing togheter practitioners throughout the Pacific Northwest.\u00a0\u00a0She currently resides in Vancouver, BC where she caretakes her 94-year old mother and aunt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Franke\u00a0<\/strong>was elected as a member of Metta\u2019s Board of Directors in August 2012.\u00a0\u00a0Working in information technology security in higher education, Rachel brings strong technical and\u00a0editing and writing skills, and has experience with policy and procedure development in a decentralized environment.
