The immensity of our current climate crisis has been described by a recent UN report as a “code red for humanity.” This can feel so overwhelming, that we may find ourselves turning away or feeling powerless or numb. Buddhist scholar and longtime environmental activist, Joanna Macy, says:

‘‘Of all the dangers we face from climate chaos, none is so great as the deadening of our response.”

In this five-day immersive retreat, we will bring together Joanna Macy’s Active Hope work and the relational meditation practice of Insight Dialogue to explore and awaken our capacities to respond to the climate emergency. We will draw on the power of relational meditation practice in pairs and small groups, as well as video/audio materials, short dharma teachings, and guided meditations to create a vibrant learning environment. The forging of a community of deep connection offers the conditions for the development and strengthening of our resourcefulness, resilience, joy, and courage in meeting the challenges before us.

This course is recommended for participants who are at the beginning of their journey in responding to the climate emergency and/or practicing Insight Dialogue, as well as those with significant experience in both of these.

Testimonial from a previous participant:

“This online climate course was deeply engaging. There was never a moment when I was bored or tempted to multitask(!) It was a good mix of spacious time for deep contemplation and connection, excellent audio and video resources, and fun community building. I learned a huge amount and was surprised to find it uplifting and empowering rather than depressing or heavy as I had feared.”
